Over the past decade, she has led large programs in sanitation innovation for emerging countries and is a leading expert in ‘reinvented toilets.’ As the founding director of Duke’s Smart Toilet Lab, Sonia has pioneered technologies that extract health insights from human waste. She co-founded Coprata to integrate these innovations into daily life, giving individuals actionable data to improve their health. Sonia holds a PhD in physics, has authored 50+ scientific publications, and holds four patents.
